Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road' Has the Most-Viewed Lyrics in the U.S. in 2019

At the beginning of September, LyricFind crowned Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, its song of the summer (a distinction shared by Billboard), deeming the song the biggest for lyric searches and usages in summer 2019.

Little has changed on the overall 2019 tally, as LyricFind today (Dec. 5) declares "Old Town Road" as having the most-viewed lyrics in the U.S. in 2019.

The ranking takes into account the most-viewed lyrics across the Internet from January through the end of November 2019. LyricFind tracks lyric-search queries globally and in the U.S. The company is the world's leader in licensed lyrics, with data provided by more than 4,000 publishers and utilized by more than 100 services, including Amazon, Pandora, Deezer, Microsoft, SoundHound and iHeartRadio. These are illustrated each week on Billboard via the LyricFind U.S. and LyricFind Global charts, both of which rank the fastest-momentum-gaining songs in lyric usages in the U.S. and globally, respectively.

"Old Town Road" taking the distinction of the year's most-viewed lyrics in the U.S. in 2019 is none too surprising; the song set a new record for the most weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, ruling for 19 frames on the April 13 through Aug. 17-dated tallies.

The smash is followed by Ariana Grande's "7 Rings" and Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy," which rank at Nos. 2 and 3 on LyricFind's year-end U.S. list, respectively. Both were also Hot 100 leaders in 2019; "7 Rings" reigned for eight weeks beginning in February, while "Bad Guy" crowned the list for one frame (Aug. 24).

Lizzo's "Truth Hurts" and Taylor Swift's "Me!," featuring Brendon Urie, round out the top five. The former topped the Hot 100 for six weeks starting in September, while the latter is the highest-ranking song on LyricFind's list not to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100; it peaked at No. 2 in May.

Meanwhile, the song on LyricFind's 20-position ranking that peaked the lowest on the Hot 100? Maren Morris' "GIRL," which is also the recap's only country song. It places at No. 8 on LyricFind's tally, after reaching No. 44 on the Hot 100 (and No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart) in August.
