You Should See Them in a Crown: Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish Top LyricFind's 2019 Song Of the Summer Ranking

Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, was crowned Billboard’s song of the summer for 2019 on Sept. 3, and when it comes to lyric searches this summer, little was different.

“Old Town Road” was also the top trending set of lyrics in summer 2019 in the United States, according to LyricFind, beating out challenges from heavy hitters such as Lewis Capaldi, Billie Eilish and more.

LyricFind, meanwhile, ranks the fastest momentum-gaining tracks in lyric-search queries globally and in the U.S., respectively. The company is the world's leader in licensed lyrics, with data provided by more than 4,000 publishers and utilized by more than 100 services, including Amazon, Pandora, Deezer, Microsoft, SoundHound and iHeartRadio. These are illustrated each week on Billboard via the LyricFind U.S. and LyricFind Global charts.

“Old Town Road” takes the top spot in the U.S. for summer lyrics searches and usages over Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved,” itself still gaining steam in the U.S., dropping 11-13 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated Sept. 7 (the close of the song of the summer tracking period) but notching a new high in chart points.

Ed Sheeran’s “South of the Border,” featuring Camila Cabello and Cardi B, slots in at No. 3 in U.S. searches, while Cabello appears again at No. 4 with “Senorita,” recorded alongside Shawn Mendes.

Eilish’s “Bad Guy” may be No. 7 on the U.S. ranking, but internationally, the song reigns as the top trending lyrics in the world, ranking at No. 1 on LyricFind’s global song of the summer list.
