Brandi Carlile's "The Joke" isn't just taking a victory lap in terms of early sales and streaming projections for next week's Billboard charts (dated Feb. 23) following her performance of the song at the Feb. 10 Grammy Awards. The track also shoots to the top of the LyricFind U.S. chart (dated Feb. 16) and to No. 2 on the corresponding LyricFind Global tally.

Carlile's "The Joke" crowns the U.S. list thanks to searches for and usage of the track's lyrics leading up to, during and following the awards ceremony, at which it was nominated for, among other trophies, song and record of the year. It wound up winning for best American roots performance and best American roots song, categories that were presented in the pre-show non-televised ceremony.

But it was Carlile's performance of the song, which took place late in the CBS broadcast, that injected further life into it, buoyed by a well-regarded vocal performance from the singer.
According to LyricFind, "The Joke" saw a 3,527 percent increase in lyric searches globally after the broadcast concluded.
Additionally, "The Story," Carlile's breakout 2007 hit, which reached No. 3 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart that year, enters the LyricFind U.S. chart at No. 22 thanks to interest in the singer's discography following her performance, gaining by 635 percent in searches post-Grammys, according to LyricFind.
