Britain preferred heartbreak songs to romance tracks in the lead up to Valentine’s this year, a new study has found.

According to research by LyricFind, the top trending heartbreak track in the UK over the past six weeks has been ‘Strangers’ by Sigrid, a song about realising you and your partner are never going to work.

The UK was the only country of the eight surveyed to have a heartbreak track trend higher than the most searched love song, ‘More Than You Know’ by Axwell x Ingrosso.

By comparison, Australia proved to be the most romantic nation, with Camila Cabello’s ‘Havana’ reaching 273,450% more searches than the top break-up song, ‘Where’s My Love’ by SYML.
