Fans can now emblazon their favorite lyrics on merch ranging from mugs, T-shirts and even shower curtains through the first consumer-facing lyrics service, LyricMerch, which officially launched Wednesday (Nov. 8).
While customization is made possible through an intuitive interface, pre-made designs abound now that the site is live -- and fans can already unearth shirts featuring unique typographical depictions of the lyrics from Nirvana’s “Come As You,” The Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” Third Eye Blind’s “Semi-Charmed Life” and more.
LyricFind is a prominent lyric licensing company with a catalogue of over 1 million songs through over 4,000 partners. The company previously partnered with Billboard to launch two lyrics charts -- LyricFind US and LyricFind Global -- in 2015.
The fully legal site promises to give back to artists, paying rights-holders royalty for the use of their work.
“We see this as a win-win for songwriters and artists, and for fans who love their lyrics,” Darryl Ballantyne, CEO of LyricFind, said in a statement. “LyricMerch also expands the income possibilities for lyrics rightsholders, helping them make the most of an asset that is growing in significance in the digital era.”
